Leave no stone unturned.

Leave no stone unturned.

Sounds like a serious undertaking, turning every stone.

Every stone, turned with anticipation of finding whatever it is that you’re looking for. Treasure? Frogs?

How many stones will it take?

I asked Google about turning stones, and it told me this expression comes from an ancient Greek legend about a general who buried a large treasure (what  treasure? Large in size or large in value? I want to know) in his tent (how big was his tent? Surely it wouldn’t be too hard to find buried treasure in a tent?) when he was defeated in battle. The people trying to find the treasure asked the Oracle of Delphi (kind of like the Google of the day), who advised them to move every stone.

Have you ever turned over a stone? A literal stone?

Were you inspired by curiosity or boredom or by something else?

Did you feel its weight shift as it moved, feel your muscles move as it shifted?

What did you find?

Leave no stone unturned says to me:

Keep going. Don’t give up.

It’s there to find, the thing you’re seeking.

Keep turning.

Stone after stone after stone.

Stay present, if you can.

Each stone a new stone.

Try your best not to slip into mindless stone turning.

And stay open to finding other kinds of treasure
on the way to your particular pot of gold.

Leave no stone unturned.
