Making things makes me happy.
There’s something magical about making things with no preconceived idea of how it will turn out. Letting the creation inform you of what it wants to be. I make a lot of art this way – letting each colour tell me which colour comes next, each shape and line inform the next shape and line. It’s a lesson in trust, a lesson in letting go of trying to figure anything out, a lesson in following my inner knowing and letting it guide the process.
More and more, I live my life in much the same way. Trusting, letting go of trying to figure anything out, following my inner knowing and letting it guide my journey through life.
Last week I made a Moon Witch – or more truthfully, she made herself using my hands. I wanted deep reds and purples, and dark brown wooden beads, and every time I brought them to her she said no, blue. Blue and white and black like the sky and the moon and the stars. And so I trusted, and listened, and stopped trying to figure it out, and followed that inner knowing.
And this creation was born.
This is an invitation for you to do the same – trust, a little more. Try to figure things out a little less. Follow your inner knowing, a little more, and let it guide your journey through life.
And let yourself be delighted by the journey.
