Imagine…

This is a week for imagining things.

Why? Mostly just because. Any week is a good week for imagining things.

Imagination is a thing that's downplayed when maybe it should be revered. 'It's "just" your imagination'. It's fanciful and frivolous and fantastical and also the most powerful thing we own.

I like thinking of imagination as a place. It's a place we can visit.

Everything starts there.

Imagine if we had three wishes. What might we wish for?
Imagine if we had a magic mirror. What might we see?
Imagine if we had seven league boots. Where might we go? (If you're not familiar, 7 league boots allow the person wearing them to take strides of seven leagues per step, resulting in great speed.)

Imagine if we had a garden on the moon, imagine if we had a secret cave of wonders deep in the earth, imagine if we could fly on the backs of dragons. Imagine if I decorated my house like it was the inside of a magic carpet. That's a mind bending thought - carpets are kind of two-dimensional, what could be inside them?

Imagination is a free thing - we can imagine anything at all.

Imagination broadens our horizons, it makes more things possible - if we can't imagine it, we won't choose it.

I think the point of this musing is to encourage you to imagine more things. Go on flights of fancy. Let yourself be surprised and delighted by the wonders you can imagine. Forests of friendly talking trees who want to tell you stories, imagine finding a little house in the midst of the woods that contains a wise woman who will offer you sage advice. Imagine swallowing a magic potion that allows you to turn into a bird at will, flying through the treetops.

Imagine.

And see what happens to your life when you spend more time imagining things.

If you’d like to explore what happens when you bring the power of your own imagination into healing and growth - click here to get in touch :) It’s one of my favourite places to play, and clients usually find it to be extremely helpful and extremely fun - something we sometimes don’t think to associate with working through challenging times.
